About
Welcome to Munnin’s Eyes
This website contains Norse Mythology and my Artwork. Imagine you could see through the eyes of a mythological character that is over Two thousand years old. Muninn one of Odin’s ravens who has and represents the power of ancient memory. Huginn who is Odin’s other raven has and represents the power of ancient thought and is Muninn’s counterpart. Together both ravens fly all over Midgaard the world of Humans and the other Realms of the Norsemen then periodically report back to Odin what they’ve discovered. To provide a greater insight into the past, present and to share knowledge is the purpose of my artwork and this website. My name is Eric Nordkvist (a.k.a. Muninn). Myself being of Swedish descent with ancestors from Njurunda Sweden, I’ve taken a strong interest in the Mythology and beliefs of the Pre-Christian Norse people.
As for my connection to Muninn, it is the power of ancient memory and Muninn’s journeys over thousands of years that inspires my artwork. This is why the artwork is created in Muninn’s name and like both of Odin’s ravens I too travel great distances as a long haul semi truck driver. My journeys take me across both Canada and the United States. I can relate somewhat to Huginn and Muninn, that too inspires my artwork.
I’ve spent many years studying Norse Mythology, Greek Mythology, Art history and Human history from present to the Prehistoric Age. I’m a Digital Multimedia Artist located in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. My interest in artwork began at 12 years of age by drawing album covers of my favourite bands. By doing this I increased my artistic abilities.
Over the years I received further training in fine arts and history at the University of Manitoba and the Digital Multimedia Program at Red River College in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. I’m proficient with Traditional and Digital mediums, combined with familiarity of numerous styles of artwork.
Airbrushing, Caffeine, Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal is where it all begins! Just like the old school album cover artists from the 1970’s and 80’s.
